The Director

David E. Rozelle is a professional aviator and educator dedicated to building the next generation of pilots while growing the aviation community in Lowell and beyond. With over 3,000 hours of total flight time—including extensive experience in turbine and Part 121 operations—David combines technical expertise, leadership, and a passion for teaching to prepare tomorrow’s aviators for safe and successful careers.

A graduate of West Michigan Aviation Academy, David began his professional training at L3 Harris Flight Academy in Florida and Sparta Aviation Services in Michigan before advancing into flight instruction and airline operations. He currently serves as a First Officer at SkyWest Airlines, where he performs the duties of both pilot flying and pilot monitoring while prioritizing safety, precision, and professionalism.

Beyond the airlines, David has dedicated much of his career to flight training and mentorship. As Flight Director of Airmen Academy in Grand Haven and Lowell, he manages daily operations, conducts stage checks, and oversees instructor development. In 2024, he founded the Future Pilot Program (FPP) in Lowell, a nonprofit initiative providing free flight training—from private pilot to certified flight instructor—for aspiring aviators who may not otherwise have access to aviation education. His mission is to make flight training more accessible and to ensure that financial barriers never prevent passionate students from pursuing their dreams.

David’s experience also includes specialized international instruction, CFI/CFII training, and management of aviation operations. His diverse background—from auto body craftsmanship to aircraft assembly supervision—reflects his mechanical skills, artistic creativity, and dedication to excellence in every endeavor.

With a career that bridges airline operations and community aviation development, David is committed to growing the aviation pipeline in Lowell and fostering a new generation of pilots who are skilled, confident, and inspired to lead the industry into the future.
