“I went to highschool at West Michigan Aviation Academy which is where I was first introduced to flying. I was very skeptical at first but soon grew to quickly love aviation. I have now completely immersed myself in aviation for almost the past 6 years, it has become a part of my everyday life. In highschool, I participated in the project build-a-plane where we built a Cubcrafters Carbon EX-2. While at the same time beginning my flight training. I graduated highschool with honors and my private pilot certificate in the spring of 2021. I then decided to move down to Florida to enroll in a fast-track part 141 flight school, L3Harris Flight Academy. At this school, I received the rest of my current certificates (my Instrument rating, Commercial Single Engine w/ Multi Engine Add-on, and Certified Flight Instructor certificates). Currently, I am working on my CFII.
I am Ethan Marckwardt, I am from West Michigan, and am pursuing a bachelors in aviation (professional pilot). I am currently a junior so I plan on finishing my degree in the next year and half to two years while continuing to build my flight hours.
I am going to use this degree to help me become a more marketable or competitive pilot in the aviation community whether that is in either Commercial or Corporate operations. I would like to see this course further my understanding in some of the foundations of aviation as well as different airport operations that I may not be aware of currently.
On top of being a student here, I currently work as a Flight Instructor at Airmen Academy, as well as Parachute drop Pilot at Skydive Grand Haven. Outside of aviation, I also work at Starbucks part time making coffee.
Some things about me are that I did competitive mens gymnastics for 13 years. Which consumed alot of my time and energy growing up. I once competed at a competition with two broken wrists and tied for first. Something else I love to do is to travel to new places and to experience new things regardless of what it may be. I love to hike, kayak, mountain bike and to do pretty much anything outdoors. I am also always trying to learn something new, for example, I am currently also training to become a instrument flight instructor as well as learning spanish for fun! That is a little about me and es un placer conceros a todos y buenas dias
